Joint authority of Kainuu Region prepares both national government and EU regional policy programmes as well as coordinating and overseeing the implementation. They are also responsible for regional planning in general and for land use in accordance with building legislation. Regional Councils promotes the export of the region's products and companies and contributes to the general development of tourism within the region.
